Homeschool Planning Plans

This is a list of the things I plan to do to prepare for the next school year.  Each of these items may end up having it's own post, or maybe not...  I'm going to try to write this post while the kids are eating breakfast, but I'm not a very fast typist, so here I go.

  • Worker's end of the year progress report to send to the school department
  • Worker and Snuggler's home education plans to send to the school department
  • A list of days throughout the liturgical year that I'd like us to celebrate, along with organizing what we'll do etc.
  • Look through Moira's Home Catechesis 3-5 to see if there are any presentation materials that I can make or obtain during the summer
  • Make specific plans for CHC's Tour a Country
  • Make specific plans for science
  • Come up with a school schedule
  • Choose artists and composers to study and gather materials
  • Think about nature study
  • Oh yeah- the 3 R's... math, language arts and I'll put catechism in this category, because religion starts with R
  • FIAR plans - meet with Kari to talk about our co-op plans.  We're going to get together on Wednesdays to do FIAR activities.
  • Try to find time to do things like: Spanish, woodworking, crafts, cooking and baking
  • Declutter and organize the school room
  • Clean the floor
  • Buy fresh school supplies

Well, that's a good start.  I'm thinking that I may only plan out the details for the fall, which I consider to be from the first day of school until Thanksgiving.  Our school year is divided (in my mind) into these seasons: Fall, Advent & Christmas, Winter, Lent & Easter, and Spring.  It's definitely more manageable (in my mind) to plan out only one season at a time.  I'm also going to try to work on one of the items listed above at a time.  Baby steps...

I like the way you break up the year, rather than the standard fall, winter, spring and summer break. It makes far more sense liturgically-- thanks for the idea!! :)

What is FIAR? I know that WMCH is going to have co-op classes again this year. The science co-op that I had to opt out of (too many days out of the house) last year is palnning right now to be on the same day as the writing co-op. I am really excited about this!

Did you go to Bible Study yesterday? I was away camping. We got poured on on Wednesday night and our tent leaked. I think we are officially members of the "Anyone can camp in good weather" club now. :)

I agree on seasonal planning and I like how you break it down. I did the whole year at once last year and it was a big mistake.
