CHILLIN'

Don't tell. I am sitting here in Bobby's study (he's working late at his office) using his new computer. It is awwwwesome. I'd take a picture of it, but I don't know how to work that part of it yet, which explains why I haven't posted any trip pictures. They're all on this computer... somewhere.

It's finally totally quiet here. Everyone's in bed, which is probably where I should be. I've been pondering whether or not I should take Bobby's advice to order grammar (and possibly spelling)workbooks for the kids this year. I had been planning on going with the BraveWriter lifestyle for the boys. Ahh... decisions, decisions...

I think I'll do a 2009-2010 curriculum post soon. And maybe I'll fill up my sidebars with booklists. Yeah. THAT would be cool. Well, my mind is blank now. I just drank something called "super CHILL ROOT BEER."  It came from the Harwichport Shaw's and I think it may have killed some brain cells.

Tennis on Tuesday

My new job on Tuesday mornings is to pack a picnic lunch and drive Sweet Pea and Hannah up to the Blandford Club.

 

Bobby takes Worker, Snuggler and Helper to Junior Golf there around 8:00 a.m., as he's done for a few years now. We've started to meet him at 11:00ish this year, so that he can get to work and I can be there while Worker and Helper receive tennis lessons for the first time. This week I brought my camera.

 

 

I walked around with Snuggler, Sweet Pea and Hannah (in the Baby Bjorn) to keep them busy.

Getting Outside

I spent some time outdoors today. I went for a short walk in our neighborhood with the kids. I pushed Hannah in her baby swing and in her stroller. I admired our yard which Bobby takes such good care of, and the woods we don't own behind us, and the flowers of our yard and in the lot next door. I listened to birds and crickets and enjoyed a September-like breeze. It was beautiful. So often I miss these things. I stay inside because I feel like I have too much to do.

Last night I was checking out the Mother's Rule of Life website. (I think I was longing for some order after a week with visiting relatives and sick kids.) I found a post about not getting outside much. Holly answered it by saying that the woman must have had her 5th P (work inside the home) in front of her own personal care and her children's too. I thought that was a good way for me to look at it. If I "can't" get outside, then I should check my priorities. Are they in order? I also thought that this was a good suggestion on the topic:

Read up about the benefits and necessity of outside fresh air and exercise, and this will help you decide to 'make' time for this important activity, and put all lesser-Ps in their place.

I'd Like To...

• attempt to sew a pioneer costume for Helper, and if it comes out OK, one for Sweet Pea
• try to make Harry Potter Puppet Pals puppets for Snuggler
• do some sketches or watercolor paintings of my garden flowers or of the wildflowers in the lot next to us (I've been taking photos of them)
• start and finish the progress reports and ed plans for the school department
• purge and organize everyone's drawers (the clothing seems to have multiplied) 

And the list could go on. But for now, I am resting. It's Sunday and I have a cold. I've had nausea on and off all week. Snuggler threw up in a church pew last Sunday, Worker threw up all over his room, and Helper threw up neatly in a toilet and in a dishpan. Hannah and Bobby have colds too. Hannah's asleep, Bobby's out and the others are watching Ice Age. Well, except for Sweet Pea, who's shoving a book in my face. I've gotta go.

Busy July

My brother-in-law, Willis, arrived with his three children on Friday morning. We've been spending lots of time with them and Bobby's sister's family, who live near us. Friday night, everyone went to the fireworks except Hannah and me. (I got some quiet time that night.) Saturday was the Fourth of July picnic, Sunday we had a birthday party at our home for Helper, Hannah (who will be one on the 12th), our nephew Ben, and Bobby's Dad. Yesterday we hung around all morning and then went to a water park. This morning is Junior Golf and Tennis. Whew!

I have loads of pictures to post soon. Right now I need to take care of the little girls who don't golf and do a quick tidying up around here.

It seems that lately my blog has taken the place of scrapbooking. While I'd like to spend more time writing about ideas and such, for now I am glad to at least preserve some memories. And when life is busy and full as it has been, pictures here without words are better to me than pictures sitting in files on my computer. So that's my explanation for the recent lack of long, rambling, pondering posts, which could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending upon your preference. I hope you had a great weekend!

The Fastest 7 Quick Takes Friday Ever

 

1. Bobby's brother and his 3 children should be arriving (from WA state) in less than one hour.
2. Bobby is at his office with 2 of our children doing a last minute something.
3. I hope that our house guests won't look into the school room closet because it will ruin the organized-homeschooling-mom-of-five image that I'm trying to project. Why? idk (I learned that on facebook.)
4. Fear and anxiety leave me when I ask God for help and stop thinking about myself.
5. THE SUN IS OUT!
6. That shouldn't count as one. I really, really like the music of John Philip Sousa. I intend to listen to it, perhaps with some added fist-swinging, all the way to Walmart this morning.
7. Hannah learned how to say "shhh" today around 5:00 a.m. It made her laugh and was very cute.
8. I'm off to do some Room Rescues. Happy Day!
