Is a painted daisy, I believe.
This garden kit is doing OK. Some things we've planted haven't come up at all, but I'd say most are growing. Unfortunately, I haven't finished drawing a labeled garden sketch yet, and the flower names I wrote on craft sticks have all faded away. So when I weeded today, I left a few plants that I'm pretty sure are weeds... just in case.
Last night, after dinner, Bobby put his finishing touches on our flower garden bed.
Then I sat on a Little Tikes picnic table directing him in the actual planting. Since neither of us have any flower gardening experience, it was kind of funny. I'd open a bag and say, "There should be three plants in here." I'd find three roots, show him where I wanted them, and then read some directions.
It was kind of thrilling... the anticipation.... will we or will we not see flowers????
It got dark and Sweet Pea was melting down, so the rest of the planting had to wait for another day.
It seems kind of early for zone 5. I mean... it was snowing yesterday. But Bobby told me he didn't really need to wear a coat today. Our garden plot still looks like this. Hmmm...
There's a note from the plants on the box exterior.
So what do you think? Should we prepare the soil and plant it this weekend?
The hardest part is finished! I'm only kidding. I have no idea what the hardest part of gardening is. This was kind of fun. I did most of the digging, but Worker helped by gathering tools and such. He knows where everything is in the garage. He played in something he created. I think it's like an excavator. It's for digging, bulldozing, moving plywood, etc.
I needed to take a break when the pre-dinner meltdown started, but I finished the job after dinner, while Bobby took care of the three younger ones.
Can we build it? Yes, we can! Uh... uh... I think so...
OK, I'm not starting out with a huge amount of confidence, but is there a better way to begin a new project than by blogging about it? I've thought about gardening long enough now. I've even created a new category here. It's time to take a risk and go outside.
